The piano stays in service of the room rather than becoming the center of attention. Music begins quietly and adjusts naturally as guests arrive, conversations develop, and the feel of the event becomes clear. This approach is well suited for cocktail parties, receptions, corporate events, and private gatherings.
The music can remain calm, or gently build. It responds to whatever is happening.
I spent five years on the main stage at Boom Chicago in Amsterdam, followed by 15 years as the house pianist at The iO Theater in Chicago, performing seven nights a week.
I bring this in-the-moment musical judgment to each event.
“Dave played keyboard for a cocktail reception. He added great ambience and music. He was a pleasure to work with.”
“His musical performance was truly outstanding, providing a perfect ambiance for our special evening.”
